Humpty’s Lost Love [200qp] ADVANCED
Cloud Isle
Things you'll need: A lot of patience...
To start this quest, question him about his name. He will tell you how he’s named after his Great-great-great Uncle. Further question him about being an egg and he will tell you about losing his true love. He will say that he is living on The Cloud Isles to escape the humiliation and to hopefully find his true love. You’ll agree to help reunite him with his love.
You've agreed to try to reunite Humpty and his true love.
Ask him why he thought his true love would be on Cloud. He tells you the story of how he lost his love. He mentions her father is crazy about studying spiders, so Humpty captures a huge spider to gain favor from him. The father immediately is delighted and sets it loose in the house. Patience, his true love is afraid of spiders and ran away. This is the information you are given for now. (This is a great time to also start the Humpty’s Small Favor Quest)
You can find an NPC named Patience in Wington. After talking with her, she claims you have the wrong person.
Find Kirby Moufet in Ashton. He is an entomologist. Tell him Humpty’s story and he will reply:
Kirby Moufet: (Kirby sighs.). That was quite a fiasco. Poor Patience. I should have thought before releasing the tarantula in the house. I think she used that as an excuse to move. She hates the heat here. But Cloud isn’t her style either. Patience is afraid of heights. I must say, I was impressed with Humpty's gift though. Truly a magnificent specimen.
Ask him if he knows where she is.
Kirby Moufet: Certainly not any place near where spiders are known to live. She'd be terrified that she'd meet another tarantula like the one Humpty presented to me.
Talk to Humpty about what you’ve learned thus far.
If you tell him you talked to her father, he will let you ask him more questions.
Telling him about Patience on bird not knowing him, he demands you go back and make her remember.
Go back to Bird Isle and speak to her.
Look. I'm sure the whole unfortunate fiasco with the tarantula was embarrassing. But Humpty meant no harm. Really. He wanted to impress your father because he was, I mean IS in love with you!
She still says she doesn’t know who you’re talking about and thinks tarantulas are lovely creatures.
You realize she’s suffering from amnesia!
You think tarantulas are lovely? That sure doesn't sound like the woman I'm looking for. Wait a second. Your name is Patience. You sing like a lark, right? Maybe the trauma has made you forget. That's it! You've suffered from amnesia!
She still say’s it’s not her, but she remembers hearing about someone who can sing beautifully. Patience sends you to Grant at Winston bank.
Grant tells you she was just passing through and mentioned she was going to see a groundskeeper that was her uncle.
Go to Starfish Isle and talk to Mortimer. He says she left his home ‘wishing on a unicorn’. Time to go back to Humpty with this news. Tell him what has happened while you’ve been gone.
Supposedly Mortimer misheard her. The Clues are wishing on a unicorn, fear of heights, fear of spiders, and fear of night crawlers. Talk to him again to discuss the clues.
Based on the uncle's hearing issue, I think wishing is really fishing. So, that fits perfectly with night crawlers. I need to ask the people who are involved with fishing! I'll be back when I know more.
Go to the fishing shop at the tip of Horn Isle. Nikara tells you she’s at the shore line.
Nikara: Certainly. She's out fishing the shoreline not far from my front door.
Go north to the shore line to find Patience.
Little Miss Moufet: (Patience, a middle aged woman, is fishing off the shoreline, singing in a carefree and lovely way. Her voice is delicate and sweet and drifts out over the ocean waves.)
Interrupt her song and she’ll thank you for calling her Patience.
Little Miss Moufet: (Patience is startled and stops mid-song.) Oh! I was so lost in my song that I didn't realize anyone else was out here. However did you know where to find me? And thank you for calling me Patience.
Turns out, Patience has never spoken to Humpty in her life and says he must’ve been delusional. Back to Humpty you go. He’s crazy and starts making wedding plans until you rudely pop his bubble and explain that Patience is not his true love. He eventually apologizes.
You Completed Humpty's Lost Love. You earned $350,000, 50 Silver Linings, and 200 quest points.
